We did it! We Helped Make America Healthy Again!

Today marks the last day of our Make America Healthy Again campaign, which resulted in an incredible 125,814 people pledging to go vegan with us for the month of January—whoop whoop! Subsequently, we will be donating the equivalent number of U.S. Dollars to two amazing farmed animal sanctuaries: Sisu Refuge and Skylands Sanctuary.

A Tribute to Our New Vegan Brigade

Supporting these sanctuaries wouldn’t have been possible without the noble commitment of everyone who chose to start their vegan journey with us this year. Whether you decided to go vegan for ethical or environmental reasons, or plant-based for your health, or to help make America Healthy Again, Million Dollar Vegan salutes. It’s no easy feat to break with the habits of a lifetime and make the switch to a healthier, more sustainable, and kinder way of life.

We hope that, with our daily support, you’ve found this new way of eating fun, educational, energizing, and inspiring. Perhaps, as a result of going plant-based, some of you will have witnessed an improvement in your chronic health issues. Going forward, you may even wish to tell your ‘vegan transformation story’ to the world, and we hope you’ll reach out to us when that time arrives!

Thank you to our amazing Supporters

Inspiring so many to go vegan wouldn’t have been possible without the courage of all those who shared their own vegan stories on camera for this campaign. Now, people across America and all around the world can see that no matter who you are, where you come from, or what your background is, it’s always possible (and never too late!) to transform your life.

Millions of people across the globe heard the stories of brave individuals from Minnesota to Alabama who reversed severe heart and vascular diseases, diabetes, IBS, kidney disease, cancer, and other chronic illnesses by adopting a whole food plant-based diet. As a result, thousands decided to take control of their health by pledging to go vegan.

Millions more listened to the stories of Olympians, endurance athletes and bodybuilders who were able to take their athletic skills, energy levels, strength, and recovery to the next level by going vegan. As a result, thousands decided to take their lead and go vegan too.

Men and women who grew up thinking of hunting and animal farming as a necessary or noble occupation, or in an environment where eating meat was viewed as ‘manly’ and ‘patriotic’, learned from former hunters, farmers, and veterans that there is actually nothing more noble or patriotic than protecting the most vulnerable—our fellow creatures, as well as our own health, and our planet through a conscious and compassionate vegan lifestyle.

Thousands more signed up to go vegan after hearing from the true experts on the matter: pioneering health professionals Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr. Joel Kahn, Dr. Kim Williams, Dr. T. Colin Campbell, Dr. Michael Greger, Dr. Garth Davis, Dr. David Jenkins, Dr. Milton Mills, Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr. Angie Sadeghi, Dr. Michael Klaper, Dr. John McDougall, Dr. Pam Popper, Drs. Dean & Ayesha Sherzai, Dr. Columbus Batiste, and Dr. Cyrus Khambatta.

These world-renowned specialists in nutrition, cardiology, diabetes reversal, gastroenterology, neurology, cancer prevention, and chronic disease prevention shared with us just how important our food choices are in determining our health outcomes. They also shared the many benefits and immunity-boosting properties of a whole foods plant-based diet, which are listed in our Health & Nutrition Guide.

Kudos to the Animal Hero Kids

And finally, we’d like to show our heartfelt appreciation to our incredible Ambassador Vegan Evan and to all of the amazing Animal Hero Kids whose courage, compassion, and selfless devotion to helping save animals and the planet have inspired countless people of all ages to change the way they eat, and to see animals as the precious individuals that they are.

Sincere thanks to ALL of the amazing people who chose to share their voices in support of this important campaign. Because of you, 2020 is going to be the best year for veganism yet!

Saving Lives

What’s more, as a result of 125K people adhering to a vegan diet for the full 31 days of January, our friends at AnimalClock.org have calculated that up to 1.3 million animals’ lives have been spared. That equates to approximately 1,103,000 sea creatures and 197,000 land animals, and to roughly 1.7 million pounds of meat not being consumed.

This is a HUGE success that everyone who supported this campaign and who went vegan with us this January should be immensely proud of!

Continuing Your Vegan Journey

What we’ve seen throughout this health-focused campaign is that going vegan or plant-based has the power to transform people’s lives in many ways, and not just from a health standpoint. Often, we find our mindset also changes and we begin to see the world somewhat differently. From changing our diets, we are sometimes motivated to become more ethically and environmentally conscious with the other choices we make in our lives as well. When we understand the great power we have as consumers, we can begin to make positive changes in multiple aspects of our lives that drive positive change elsewhere.

Because of all the good it can bring, we sincerely hope all those who went vegan with us this January will continue on their vegan journey throughout 2020 and beyond, and continue to discover all of the wonderful new foods, insights, and information about the world we live in that come along with that.

As a new vegan, it’s helpful to always try to remember what’s important to you, whether that be your health, the health of a loved one, setting an example for your family and friends, helping animals, protecting our oceans, rivers, and rainforests, or fighting against climate change – and to make choices that align with your core values.

Few go vegan because they dislike the taste of meat or animal products. Most do it because they want to make a change for the better, either for themselves or for the world they live in. Remember the most powerful choices we make every single day are what we put on our plates, what we buy, and what we consume. By maintaining a vegan lifestyle, you have chosen something better for yourself and others—you are living in a way that shuns exploitation, reduces suffering, and helps to preserve our planet for generations to come.
