What do vegans eat?

Vegans eat what non-vegans eat, only we use non-animal products instead. Plant milks, cheeses, yogurts, cream and ice cream replace the dairy versions. And there are plant-based burgers and steaks that look, cook and taste like meat – and even ‘bleed’ like it, too.

There are hot dogs, nuggets, and schnitzels, ‘meaty’ strips and chunks for fajitas, pizzas and casseroles. There are faux fish fingers, fillets, shrimp and tuna. Almost every animal-based item has a vegan version sand whatever you ate today, there is almost certainly a way to eat it vegan.

But, of course, there is also a wealth of vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts, herbs, spices, flavor combinations and cuisine types so there are thousands of meal ideas to choose from.

Most people tend to stick to the same ten or so meals they always eat, but when people become vegan they often find this is a catalyst for exploring new foods, ingredients, cuisines and flavors. They try new recipes and rediscover their love of great food.
